A potential client recently asked me what kind of results I can guarantee. I had to think long and hard before answering! While I was 100% confident we could get him the results he desired (page 1 ranking with a higher conversion rate), I also considered our competition. So, in the end I told him that “I can guarantee you that we will work our tails off to get you the highest ranking possible, while doing everything in our power to stay ahead of the competition.” SEO is not a magic pill…you must be committed to it for the long term. As we make changes for our clients, our competition is making changes for their clients. That’s why it’s a never ending process. Forbes.com recently posted an article in which Jason Bayless, Owner of Best Seo Companies, a website which tracks and ranks the efficacy and service of many of the nation’s leading SEO providers, says “If you’re not moving forward and improving your position, you’re losing ground to a competitor who is. That’s a simple fact of how the process works.”
The bottom line is simple…SEO is not a quick fix. The market changes, consumers change, your competition reacts, etc. Business owners must be prepared to go into this for the long haul. Pick a company you trust that can show you a history of success. It’s especially helpful if they’ve worked with similar industries. SEO shares a lot of commonality across industry types, but sometimes the conversion factor may vary depending on what you want your website visitors to do. If you own a heating and a/c company, ask your potential SEO provider if they’ve had success with other home service type companies. If they have, there’s a good chance they can replicate that success for you!
